XL20 Tube Handler for Cool Rooms is an automated tube sorter designed to operate inside a cool room or freezer to process samples in a cold environment, and is a cost effective solution for low temperature environments.

Cool room operation allows automated sample tube sorting at -4°C to minimize exposing samples to ambient temperatures.  All XL20 systems operate in same manner where samples are loaded on the deck and processed automatically.

The XL20 for Cool Room is special XL20 hardware configuration with lubricants and components specific for -4°C (and -10°C) environments. The XL20 for Cool Room systems have the same footprint and similar operation to the standard model XL20.

Typical XL20 in cool room configuration

  • XL20 operates inside the cool room typically adjacent to stored samples
  • XL20 and PC may both be located inside cool room

  • XL20 is located on freezer shelf or platform
  • XL20’s PC is located outside of the freezer
Case style refrigerators with sliding front doors also provide front access to the XL20. Most lab freezers provide front access to smaller XL9 model and side access to XL20.

Configuration

Both the XL20 (18-20 racks) and the smaller XL9 (7 to 9 racks) can be configured to operate in cool room and freezer environments. Each instrument can be customized with the features you need in your cool room environment, including:
